Action Cam or Dash Cam: Choose the Right One for You

2019-09-07 | Filed to: #Howto

APEMAN action cams such as A66S and A80 feature a special function called Car Mode, which means you can connect the camera to your car charger. The camera will automatically start recording once the engine is turned on, save the files and shut down once the engine is turned off. Besides, for a better driving experience, dont forget to turn on Loop Recording and Motion Detection at the same time.

These features enable our users to capture their holiday road trips effortlessly. But when it comes to long distance journey or road security, our dash cam should be your top option since its a trusty companion and an extra pair of eyes on the road.

Here are some key differences that the action cam is missing.

G-sensor

All of our dash cams have built-in G-sensors that can detect an impact and automatically save the footage from being overwritten. So you can get the evidence to protect yourself when you need it. The A80 also feature this function, but it allows you to turn on/off instead of adjusting its sensitivity.

24-hour Parking Monitoring

This feature means our dash cams can wake up and start recording automatically once it detects a vibration or an impact even when it is parked. Its very useful for the car owner in case of any hit-and-run or vandalism incident. But for action cameras, there is no need to add this function.

Heat Resistance

Its not suitable to use your action cam as a dash cam for a long time. Since action cams are fully sealed digital devices with large capacity, they will generate greater charging current and more heat under the same conditions. Thats why action cams cant withstand high temperature like dash cams in a long drive. For examples, our action cams are expected to withstand the temperature from -10 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius (14°F-113°F), but our dash cams do well in heat conditions up to 60 degrees Celsius (140°F). Even though, please do not leave your dash cam under the direct sun for too long.

Therefore, we can see that they are two gadgets for different purposes. The action cam is designed for recording action while being immersed in it. Its great fun for you to document your wonderful time, such as traveling, snorkeling, surfing, skiing, cycling, skydiving, climbing or driving. The other one can protect yourself and your car in case of an accident or catch the maniacs and meteors of daily driving.

Hope it helps!
