What have you been waiting for?

Are you a person who loves to capture every wonderful moment in life?

You may have seen pictures like this:

Have you ever wondered: how on earth those fantastic photos and videos were taken?

If so, we are here to give you the solution. All you need is an action camera, not the traditional digital cameras you use when you hang out, or those heavy and expensive DSLRs.

So what is an action camera? People used to think that these are digital cameras designed for recording actions of extreme sports. However, with the rapid improvement in living standards, there is an increasing number of people using it to record their daily life.

Action cameras are associated with outdoor supports and sometimes attached to surfboards, helmets or handlebars. What is notable that action cameras are smaller than traditional cameras, which make them easier to mount on an object or person which is important for the best view of the action, especially when people are doing things like base jumping, wingsuit flying, diving, etc.

In comparison with traditional compact digital cameras, a qualified action camera should have the following features:

1. Comes with a waterproof case.

As only very few action cameras are water-resistant themselves, most of the action cameras on the market are sold with waterproof cases. Take the example of APEMAN A66, it comes with a waterproof housing that allows you to take pictures under 30 meters of water. It is almost the vital feature. Otherwise, these cameras cannot be used for water sports such as surfing, diving, snorkeling or skiing.

2.  Wi-Fi Connection/Bluetooth

It isn't a must-have for action cameras, but you need to get an action camera with decent Wi-Fi/Bluetooth function if real-time sharing is important for you. Therefore, in many cases, those action cameras which are possible to be paired with your smart devices to offload and edit footage with their compatible applications are more convenient to use.

3. Resolution and video quality

As the main purpose of using action cameras is to capture every beautiful moment during your movement, 1080P@30fps (Full HD resolution at 30 frames per second) is a must for qualified action cameras. Besides, a good action cam must record crisp, smooth, vibrant video, offer multiple frame rates to choose from and include at least 1080P@30fps.

In recent years, built-in anti-shake has become the norm, therefore a good entry-level action camera such as A66 also has the Electronic Image Stabilization system (a.k.a EIS).  EIS is normally preferred to Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) when it comes to action cameras because it can detect uneven movements of the user and convert them into a fluent motion. For instance, it can avoid blurry videos and pictures when you do high-speed extreme sports such as riding.

Action cameras have very wide lenses which are a good thing to have for action and they are optimized to work with these lenses.

4. User-friendly design

An action camera should be intuitive to use, and easy to control when you are enjoying yourselves while recording something. An action camera should make adjusting settings and framing shots as easy as possible. Action cameras that have full-color LCD displays, a touchscreen interface, and a well-designed compatible app are generally preferred to those without them. However, some people feel frustrated to adjust settings by using the touchscreen when they are not able to look at the screen. So you need to take things like this into account when you make buying decisions.

5. Does it come with mounts?

Although other cameras such as DSLRs are also sold with accessories, even cheap action cameras usually come with many accessories due to the nature of their usage. A decent entry-level action camera should come with a huge selection of mounts because users need these gadgets to for fixing or whatever. In addition, ideal action cameras should be compatible with a wide range of these mounts, including those made by the manufacturer and third-party options.

For example (as shown in the picture above), mounts normally include a waterproof case, a fixed base, a bicycle stand, etc to meet different needs.

Certainly, the camera itself, along with those accessories should be very intuitive for newbies to use. If there is no mount then again it is probably not worth the hassle.

More importantly, mounts should be as reliable and effective as the cameras themselves. By this way, users can bring their cameras while skiing down a mountain, jumping into a river, or tramping through a forest with an easy mind.

So basically here is everything you need to know if you are new to action cameras. There are hundreds of different action cameras on the market, some of them are expensive and some of them are cheap.

We always believe that there should be no restriction of trying something new, and people should always keep the spirit of adventure in mind. The only restriction to this is your budget, but there are usually affordable options today for all types of cameras. For beginners, Action Camera A66 is your top choice as it can do all the jobs that you are asking it to do. Again there should be no restriction, just pick the best fit, and start your adventure FROM HERE NOW.
